1 Corinthians 15:4 NLT
“Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. After that, he was seen by more than 500 followers at one time… Then He was seen by James and later by all the apostles. Last of all… I also saw Him” (See 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 NLT).
Some of history’s greatest intellectuals started as atheists and ended up putting their trust in Christ. Why? They examined the evidence! If Jesus was who He claimed to be, God incarnate, taking upon Himself human form, dying for our sins and rising again, then they knew they had a life-changing decision to make: either accept Him or reject Him. And you must make that same decision.
Peter told his listeners on the day of Pentecost: “You nailed him to a cross… but God… raised him back to life” (Acts 2:23-24 NLT). They said, “What should we do?” Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God” (Acts 2:37-38 NLT). That day three thousand souls were won to Christ and the church was launched.
Bottom line, Jesus died for your sins and rose again to represent you as an advocate before the throne of God. If you are wise you will accept Him as your Lord and Saviour knowing that He will give you an abundant life now, and eternal life in heaven.

‘Die kern van die boodskap… was dat Christus, soos in die Skrif staan, vir ons sondes gesterf het. Ook dat Hy begrawe is en God Hom op die derde dag opgewek het, soos in die Skrif staan. Verder dat Hy aan Petrus verskyn het en daarna ook aan die twaalf apostels. Daarna het Hy aan meer as 500 van sy volgelinge tegelyk verskyn… Daarna het Hy aan Jakobus verskyn en later aan al die apostels. Heel laaste van almal het Hy ook aan my verskyn…’ (1 Korintiërs 15:3-8 NLV).
Sommige van die geskiedenis se grootste denkers was eers ateïste voor hulle later hul vertroue in Christus geplaas het. Hoekom? Omdat hulle die bewyse ondersoek het! Hulle het geweet dat indien Jesus was wie Hy beweer het – vleesgeworde God wat menslike gestalte aangeneem het – wat vir ons sondes gesterf en weer opgestaan het, dat hulle ‘n lewensveranderende besluit moes neem: om Hom of te aanvaar, of te verwerp. Jy moet dieselfde besluit neem.
Petrus het vir die skare op Pinksterdag gesê: ‘Maar julle het… Hom aan die kruis gespyker en vermoor. God het Hom egter… weer laat opstaan…’ (Handelinge 2:23-24 NLV). Hulle het gevra: ‘…’Broers, wat moet ons doen?’ Petrus antwoord hulle: ‘Kom tot inkeer en maak reg met God’…’ (Handelinge 2:37-38 NLV). Daardie dag is drieduisend siele vir Christus gewen en die kerk het sy aanvang geneem.
Jesus het vir jou sondes gesterf en weer opgestaan, sodat Hy as voorstander jou voor die troon van God kan verteenwoordig. As jy wys is, sal jy Hom as jou Here en Redder aanvaar, met die wete dat Hy vir jou ‘n oorvloedige lewe nou en ‘n ewige lewe in die hemel, sal gee.

In a ‘sting’ operation, law enforcement agents set the criminal up in order to bring them down. That’s like what happened to Satan at the cross. For three days it seemed as though Satan had won. Then Jesus rose from the dead and turned his plans upside down: ‘He disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross’ (Colossians 2:15 NLT).
The thing Satan feared most, the birth of a church with the power to change the world through the gospel, had come true. ‘The rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord’ (1 Corinthians 2:8 NLT).
Christ’s enemies even tried to stop the truth of the resurrection from getting out: ‘They decided to give the soldiers a large bribe. They told the soldiers, “You must say, ‘Jesus’ disciples came during the night while we were sleeping, and they stole his body.’ If the governor hears about it, we’ll stand up for you so you won’t get in trouble.” So the guards accepted the bribe and said what they were told to say’ (Matthew 28:12-15 NLT).
The resurrection is the ultimate proof that Jesus is Lord, and we can be sure of our salvation when we believe in the resurrection. ‘If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and if you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved. We believe with our hearts, and so we are made right with God. And we declare with our mouths that we believe, and so we are saved’ (Romans 10:9-10 NCV).

Wetstoepassers gebruik lokvalle om slegte ouens om die bos te lei om hulle so tot ‘n val te bring. Dis wat God aan die kruis met Satan gedoen het. Vir drie dae het dit gelyk of Satan gewen het. Toe het Jesus uit die dood uit opgestaan en sy planne omver gegooi: ‘So het Hy die hemelse en aardse magte ontwapen. Hy het hulle in die openbaar bespotlik gemaak deur aan die kruis oor hulle te triomfeer’ (Kolossense 2:15 NLV).
Die ding wat Satan die meeste gevrees het; die geboorte van ‘n kerk met die krag om die wêreld deur die evangelie te verander, het gebeur. ‘Maar die heersers van hierdie wêreld het dit nie begryp nie. As hulle dit wel begryp het, sou hulle nooit ons Here aan wie die heerlikheid behoort, gekruisig het nie’ (1 Korintiërs 2:8 NLV).
Christus se vyande het selfs probeer keer dat die waarheid oor die opstanding bekend word: ‘Hulle het vir die soldate ‘n groot som geld aangebied en vir hulle gesê: ‘Julle moet vir die mense vertel: ‘Sy dissipels het mooi in die nag gekom terwyl ons aan die slaap was, en sy liggaam gesteel’…’ Die wagte het toe die geld gevat en gedoen soos aan hulle voorgesê is…’ (Matteus 28:13-15 NLV).
Hoekom haat sommige mense vir Jesus? Omdat die opstanding die fundamentele bewys is dat Hy die Here is! Jy kan immers nie gered word as jy nie in die opstanding glo nie: ‘Want as jy met jou mond bely dat Jesus die Here is en met jou hart glo dat God Hom uit die dood opgewek het, sal jy gered word. Want as ons glo met ons hart, word ons vrygespreek en as ons met ons mond bely, word ons gered’ (Romeine 10:9-10 NLV).

Normally hatred for a person ends when they die.
So why then do some people hate Jesus? Because the resurrection is the ultimate proof that He is Lord! Indeed, you cannot be saved unless you believe in the resurrection: “For if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9-10 NKJV).
